What is TorsionFlex?

TorsionFlex is a polyamide with a carbon fiber content, manufactured by paromed using the FDM 3D printing process. It is a molded component that is integrated into CNC-milled insole bases as a mortons extension.

Thanks to its ergonomic shape, the EVA insole remains flexible in the rearfoot area. The three longitudinal grooves of the TorsionFlex reinforcement provide rigidity during the rolling motion, while still allowing the necessary torsion along the longitudinal axis. As a result, bending at the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe is reduced, while maintaining a high degree of mobility.

Our goal:

  • Optimal treatment of the diabetic foot using a stable and at the same time comfortable EVA specialty blank with a three-layer structure
  • Durability and resilience through the vulcanized material bond of the upper two layers in paromed Comfort Line quality
  • Improved milling results and orthopedic fit through an innovative layer combination with different Shore hardness levels
  • Statutory health insurance-compliant material combination (softening toward the foot)

The 2 mm thick paroFlex layer with a Shore hardness of 60–65 serves as the stabilizing base. This is followed by a 10 mm thick intermediate layer with a Shore hardness of 25. The top layer is 21 mm thick with a Shore hardness of 20. Vulcanization between the intermediate and top layers ensures a diabetic-appropriate, seamless milling result.
