Future foot care
Michel Boerrigter, grad. psychologist

Michel Boerrigter is podiatrist who has been closely involved in setting up what is now the largest podiatry practice in the Netherlands. From there he made the switch to the Dutch Association of Podiatrists and the Dutch Diabetes Federation to anchor the position of foot care in the health care system. In the "Market" management portfolio, he is responsible for setting up and implementing national policies, working closely with the government, insurers and other professional associations.

Short workshop summary
From a technological point of view, foot care has made enormous strides in recent years. However, the progress made depends on what perspective you are looking at. The world around us is also changing at an increasingly rapid pace, with major changes taking place in the political, economic, social, technological and ecological fields, as well as in terms of legislation and regulations. We sometimes forget that a little longer than 10 years ago there was no iPhone. Nowadays we can no longer imagine a life without a smartphone in our pocket. In his presentation Michel will elaborate on these social developments and which lessons can be learned from them for foot care. The primary question that he will address during his lecture is how foot care preserves the future right to exist and can actually strengthen the position.
